All of the remaining Chinese tourists hospitalised after a fatal bus crash near Rotorua are in a stable condition.

The bus carrying 27 people - the majority of whom were Chinese tourists - rolled on State Highway 5, west of Rotorua in wet weather on Wednesday morning, killing four adults and a young child.*

On Sunday evening Waikato Hospital confirmed two patients from the accident are stable and on a ward.

Another seven people in Rotorua Hospital are also in stable condition.

Police said the bus had failed to navigate a "moderate-to-easy" bend in poor weather, at Ngātira, and rolled onto its side in a ditch.

A police investigation is being carried out, and police earlier called for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.

*Correction: The article has been amended on 23 September 2020 to say the crash involved 27 people - the majority of which were Chinese tourists.
