A man is in hospital with stab wounds after an unprovoked morning attack in Gisborne.

Police said a 41-year-old was attacked by three men in their 20s on Valley Road yesterday between 6am and 6.30am.
He had multiple injuries to his face and body including stab wounds and was taken to Gisborne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police said the three attackers were last seen walking towards Winter Street on either Gordon Street or Ormond Road.
They appealed for any information the public could provide.
