Police have launched a homicide investigation after the death of a person in Motueka.

Emergency services were called to Motueka, about 45 kilometres west of Nelson, at 8.30pm on Sunday.
One person died and another person was critically injured and taken to Nelson Hospital.
They said the circumstances leading to the callout are not yet clear, but confirm there was a stabbing.
They will conduct a scene examination at a property on Memorial Drive.
People at the scene are being spoken to and police said they were not looking for anyone else.
