A water tank has been installed in Pleasant Point, south Canterbury, because of problems with the taste of the town water supply.

Timaru District Council said the problem was caused by recent rain increasing river flows.
A spokesperson said the water was safe to drink and the taste problem was expected to resolve itself soon.
The water tank was a temporary instalment in the town for the public to use, they said.
