Jury retires in car crash manslaughter trial

The jury in the High Court trial of two men accused of the manslaughter of four people after allegedly car racing near Hamilton in 2016 has retired to reach its verdict.

Dylan Cossey and Stephen Jones each face four manslaughter charges and charges of racing, and failing to stop to ascertain if anyone was injured.

Stephen Jones, a passenger in the car, also faces a charge of perverting the course of justice by editing a video of the events.

The four people who died were in a second car the Crown said the two accused were racing.

That car lost control and crashed into a van heading the other way.

The driver of the van was seriously injured.
