That brings the total to 20 new areas in the pipeline for government approval, and 11 already gazetted.

Mayor Rachel Reese said the latest proposals included townhouses, subdivisions and a new development for tiny houses.

The proposal could see up to 35 units built on just over three hectares of land.

Ms Reese said all proposals would need approval from the city's urban design panel.

She was also considering a reorganisation of council committees to manage special housing area applications, as they currently took up a significant amount of public forum time in regular council meetings.
