Two people are in hospital after a car towing a trailer crashed into the Waikato River in Cambridge.
The crash happened at the intersection of Shakespeare Street and Tirau Road just before 12.30pm.
Police initially said a woman had died at the scene, and that a passenger was taken to Waikato Hospital with moderate injuries.
However, they later said that after receiving significant medical intervention, including around one hour's worth of CPR, she regained a pulse.
The woman is in a critical condition at Waikato Hospital's intensive care unit.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
