Compass has reached a confidential settlement with 10 former hospital workers, who claimed they were owed $30,000 each from the company.
Last July, Compass switched to serving pre-packaged food at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, and made 14 staff redundant.
The workers' union E Tu said the workers took voluntary redundancy, and were contractually entitled to a gratuity payout of about $30,000 each.
The two sides have recently been in mediation, and RNZ understands about 10 former Compass employees have received a payout.
However, a clause of the agreement prevents anyone involved from discussing details in the media.
The former staff had worked for decades in Middlemore Hospital's kitchen before Compass Group took over the operation last year.
Compass is one of the world's biggest catering companies, and supplies nearly half of all public hospital meals in New Zealand.
