Lucy Knight, a 43-year-old mother-of-six, fractured her head and suffered a brain bleed as she intervened to help a woman being attacked outside a supermarket at Northcote on Auckland's North Shore on 23 September.

Her husband, Peter Thomas, said on social media Ms Knight was yesterday moved to a rehabilitation centre.

He said while she is physically well, her injuries are affecting her short-term memory, mood and understanding, which is hard to watch.

Mr Thomas said the move to the rehabilitation centre was difficult for his wife.
