Accused in court over samaritan attack

A teenager accused of seriously injuring a woman who intervened in an attempted bag-snatch will be separated from other prisoners until his next court appearance.

Lucy Knight, 43, sustained head injuries after rushing to the aid of Xiao Dong, who was allegedly being mugged outside a supermarket in Northcote on Tuesday.

Seventeen-year-old Hendrix Hauwai appeared in North Shore district court today charged with aggravated wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and assault with intent to rob.

Judge Philippa Sinclair remanded Mr Hauwai in custody until tomorrow, but granted his lawyer's request for him to be segregated from other prisoners.
