Dairy products give big boost to exports

New Zealand has posted a trade surplus for the month of June.

Official figures showed a surplus of $242 million in June compared with the previous month's $103m surplus.

Exports rose 11 percent, led by a big increase in dairy commodities such as milk powder, butter and cheese.

Imports rose 7.7 percent, led by cars and petroleum.

On an annual basis, the trade deficit narrowed to $3.7bn compared with May's $3.8bn.
