The Christchurch City Council will begin installing four giant towers this week, to direct people to local landmarks around the city.
The 8m-high street signs will include historical information about the surrounding area and solar-powered speakers, which will play music.
The aim of the $100,000 project is to help people who are struggling to find their way around a city where many of the old landmarks have been destroyed by the earthquakes.
