RNZ Music is proud to present the new video from Christchurch multi-instrumentalist and producer Pickle Darling. ‘Bicycle Weather’ is from his debut album Bigness, which came out earlier this year.
Pickle Darling, aka Lukas Mayo, has been making music 2016 and released his first EP Spring Onion Pancakes in 2017.
‘Bicycle Weather’ is the opening track from Pickle Darling’s debut long-player Bigness. Mayo describes it as “kind of a forbidden love song”.
Mayo says all his music videos and songs have been “kind of meta in some way”. In that vein, ‘Bicycle Weather’ is an NZ On Air-funded video about making an NZ On Air-funded video. In the video, Pickle Darling gets funding and becomes a pompous rockstar.
The video is directed by Christchurch filmmaker Martin Sagadin and features cameos from musicians including Adam Hattaway and Mousey.
