1:15 INTERVIEW: Sheep Dog & Wolf on the pain behind his art

Auckland experimental artist Sheep Dog & Wolf (real name Daniel McBride) has just released his highly anticipated second album Two Minds. It’s his first full album release since his critically acclaimed debut Egospect (2013).

"The album was written during a period of chronic physical and mental illness; it's a document of that time" says McBride. "But I still see Two-Minds as a positive statement - it's about recovery as much as it is about illness, and about the shafts of light that could shine through even in the depths of it.”

He opens up to Charlotte about the pain behind the music.

2PM LIVE - Fur Patrol

Fur Patrol’s iconic album Pet is available on vinyl for the first time! The album was originally released in 2000 and spent a total of 30 weeks on the NZ charts.

After overcoming multiple hurdles including a pandemic, lockdowns, exploding vinyl pressing machines, shipping delays, and snowstorms in Texas (not even kidding), iconic kiwi rock band Fur Patrol 20th-anniversary reissue of their debut album “Pet” on vinyl is finally here.

A lifelong dream for the band, the LP came to life thanks to the help of a Pledge Me campaign which raised over $20,000.

To celebrate the release, we’re playing some of our favourite Fur Patrol live performances including:

Fur Patrol Live at Helen's (2000)

Julia Deans Live at The Shelter (2020)

Julia Deans covers Marlon Williams 'Come to Me' (2020)

3.30  Nick Bollinger gets In the spirit

Nick Bollinger guides us through Black America's rich tradition of religious song.

Black Americans made some of the most earth-shaking sounds of the 20th century. For a start, they invented jazz and the blues, and today it would be hard to find a corner of the planet where the impact of those vital musical forms hasn't been felt. But they also produced one of the most profound bodies of religious music. Join Nick Bollinger for a guide to Black America's rich tradition of religious song: In the Spirit.

We're playing Nick's full piece in parts over the next 4 weeks on Music 101. If you'd like to listen to the full production, click below.
