10:20 National strike by New Zealand nurses tomorrow

Thirty thousand nurses will take part in an eight hour strike having overwhelmingly rejected district health boards' latest offer on pay and conditions. The discussions have been taking place for a number of months, and industrial action was initially agreed in mid-May.

A revised offer from the DHBs of a down payment of $4000 to all staff, ahead of their pay equity claim to be settled later on this year has been rejected by the nurses' union which said it would not address the longer term problems within the sector. Susana speaks with the kaiwhakahaere of New Zealand Nurses Organisation, Kerri Nuku.

10:45 Protecting the wreck of the HMS Buffalo in Mercury Bay

50 metres off the coast of Whitianga in Coromandel lies the wreck of the HMS Buffalo - A royal British Navy ship that sunk after being caught in a storm while anchored in Mercury Bay in 1840.

But there are fears the wreck, which is a protected archeological site, will disintegrate - after four large pieces of timber from it washed up on the beach during the storms that hit the region late last month.

Rebecca Cox from the Mercury Bay Museum is a leader of the HMS Buffalo Re-examination Project explains why the museum is worried about the wreck.
