Thirty thousand nurses will take part in an eight hour strike having overwhelmingly rejected district health boards' latest offer on pay and conditions. The discussions have been taking place for a number of months, and industrial action was initially agreed in mid-May.
A revised offer from the DHBs of a down payment of $4000 to all staff, ahead of their pay equity claim to be settled later on this year has been rejected by the nurses' union which said it would not address the longer term problems within the sector.
