10:30 Deluge hits North Island 

Heavy rain has hit parts of the North Island, causing surface flooding and slips, traffic chaos and sewage overflows in New Plymouth. 

Te Awamutu in Waikato has also been hard hit by the weather with flash flooding there this afternoon. 

We cross to both Taranaki and Waikato, and get an update on the latest from NIWA meterologist Seth Carrier.
