10:20 The unseen risk to rest home residents under lockdown

Nursing staff in Melbourne resthomes are warning many of the elderly people they're looking after, are giving up and refusing to eat, drink, or take medicine as they literally lose the will to live, cooped up in their rooms for weeks on end.  At least 20 residents have died at one facility who did not have Covid-19. Western Health Clinical Nursing Consultant, Shane Durance talks to Karyn about the problem.

10:30   Rail union renews calls for safer level crossings

The union representing train drivers wants to see better safety at level crossings after the death of a bus driver this morning following a collision with a train near  Palmerston North.  Two people are still in hospital after the crash.  Kiwirail says the train driver was sounding their horn when the crash happened.  The secretary of the Rail and Maritime Transport Union, Wayne Butson wants the Government and Kiwirail to invest more in preventing level crossing collisions.
