10:20 New Zealand Brazilians decry the Amazon fires

Most of the Amazon basin sits within the borders of Brazil and contains 40% of the world's tropical forests accounting for 10-15% of the biodiversity of Earth's continents.

The nonprofit Amazonwatch is dedicated to conserving the giant rainforest, and its website's home page headline reads "The Amazon Rainforest has been on fire for three weeks. Here's why you're only hearing about it now."

Brazilians in New Zealand are rallying to speak out against the burning Amazon, and Karyn talks with protest organiser Fabiola Stevenson.
