AT THE MOVIES #776                   LOST IN TRANSLATION

Simon Morris looks at three films that may be difficult to convince people outside the target audience, including a wildly popular costume drama, a festival favourite about rivalry between Argentinians and Brazilians, and French director Claire Denis’s first sci-fi film.

Downton Abbey is what you’d expect – a big screen continuation of the popular TV series, with added royalty this time.

Florianopolis dream follows an Argentinian family to a favourite holiday resort in Brazil.  Written and directed by actress turned film-maker, Ana Katz.

And High Life is distinguished French director Claire Denis’s first sci-fi film, and also her first film in English.  Stars Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche.
