1:15 Keeping community conservation alive

To hit our conservation goals we need to keep volunteers interested, a new study has found.

Predator-Free New Zealand commissioned the report looking into the state of community conservation in the country, finding more support, and funding, is needed to keep the biodiversity fight going.

Trust Chairman Sir Bob Fenwick tells us more about it.

1:25 Environmentally friendly labels often "greenwashing"

A new international report says many product labels claiming a product is sustainable or environmentally friendly is simply green-washing, and too often the certifiers are too intertwined with those they police.

The “The False Promise of Certification" was written by the Changing Markets Foundation in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

It comes as the Spinoff revealed that NZ fashion company, World, has been selling garments made in China and Bangladesh with labels saying they are made in New Zealand.

We speak to Malcolm Rands of Ecostore who has long campaigned for stricter labelling laws when it comes to sustainability and environmental claims.

1:35 Super Rugby speculation plus the top athletes of the last 50 years

Super Rugby may be in for a big overhaul if reports out of Wales are true. It's been suggested South African teams are looking to swap the Australian competition for a European one.

With what that could mean we thought we'd talk to sports commentator, Joseph Romanos, who has this weekend been ranking his favourite Kiwi sportsmen and women over the last few decades.

It’s time to talk cheese and for this we’ve gone and found one of New Zealand’s biggest cheese fans, it’s the Curd Nerd himself, Calum Hodgson.

Calum talks us through the weird and wonderful world of making cheese including discussing some of the weirder types he's discovered in his time as a cheesemonger.

3:10 James Briscione - the science of perfect food matches

Peanut butter and Jam. Macaroni and cheese. There are some things that are just meant to go together.

Perfect food parings are not an accident, it's science according to two time Chopped winner, Chef James Briscione and his wife Brooke Parkhurst.

They've written a new book that uses science and data to connect great food duos you may not have considered like blueberry and cumin and cauliflower and fig. The book is called The Flavor Matrix: The Art and Science of Pairing Common Ingredients to Create Extraordinary Dishes
