Tourist operators in Akaroa on the Banks Peninsula have been hit hard by the effects of the Christchurch earthquake, even though Akaroa was undamaged. Paul Bingham, managing director of the town's largest operator Black Cat Cruises, says business was down by up to 60 per cent in March - one of their busiest months of the year - and many other operators are hurting too.

During World War Two, Jewish woman Dora Suuring joined the Resistance in Holland, faked identity cards and hid many Jewish families. Dora and her husband escaped their camp and she eventually came to New Zealand. This week, 96-year-old Dora met with other Dutch survivors at the Wellington Holocaust Research and Education centre.
