Anyone who has ever visited a hospital emergency room with a sick child, or an injured friend knows what a difference a calm, competent nurse can make in what is often one of the most traumatic experiences anyone can have. In the Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital emergency department, nurse practitioner Sharon Payne is often that person who makes the difference for a frightened child, and their even more upset parents. She's just been named the 2010 Emergency Nurse of the Year by the Australasia College of Emergency Nurses in Sydney.

Michael Stewart is addicted to running. More precisely, he's addicted to marathons. The passion started 40 years ago when he lied about his age to compete in what is now the City of Wellington Marathon. That was back in 1970. Now at age 58, he has hit the footpath in 480 marathons. Michael has just arrived in Invercargill to compete in his 481st race, the Southland Marathon on Sunday.
