Top Nurse
Anyone who has ever visited a Hospital Emergency room with a sick child or an injured friend knows what a difference a calm, competent nurse can make in what is often one of the most traumatic experiences anyone can have. In the Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital emergency department, nurse practitioner Sharon Payne is often that person who makes the difference for a frightened child, and their even more upset parents. She's just been named the 2010 Emergency Nurse of the Year by the Australasia College of Emergency Nurses in Sydney.
