Villages in the northern parts of Fiji have gone into lockdown after cases of Covid-19 were reported in the Yasawa District.

Health Secretary James Fong also confirmed 54 new cases, which has been the third double-digit figure in the past week.
The latest figures also reveal the lowest number of cases per day since 4 June this year.
This takes the total number of active cases to 13,022. There were no new Covid-19 deaths to report with the toll still at 590.
While there has been no confirmation from health authorities on the latest trend, they were able to reveal that the average daily cases were 114 or 129 cases per million population per day.
Dr Fong said 230 of the latest Covid patients were on the remote islands and isolated.
He said one new case was recorded on Kadavu Island in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases there to 556.
He said of those, 536 cases had recovered and the remaining 18 active cases were monitored by the health team.
"Seven patients are currently admitted at Vunisea Hospital, of which three are Covid positive and currently in stable condition."
Dr Fong said six new cases were recorded on Beqa Island.
He said of the new total of 248 cases on the island, 44 cases had recovered and 203 were active cases under home isolation and daily monitoring from the health team.
"The positive cases are distributed in the villages of Dakuibeqa, Dakuni, Soliyaga, Naceva, Nawaisomo, Lalati, Raviravi, and two new cases on Yanuca Island.
"Risk assessment for the active cases revealed that 51 cases are of the high-risk category, and 78 cases are in the moderate category.
"Vaccination for the villagers will commence once the 14 days lockdown for the island is completed."

Inter-island travel ban remains
Movement restrictions remained for all the remote islands.
Yasawa District spokesperson Senirusi Sevutia said more than 20 cases of Covid-19 had been confirmed in six villages.
He told the Fiji Times newspaper with inter-island travel restricted those infected with the virus on the island were isolated.
He said each village headman had been required to instil strict movement restrictions while monitoring the sick.
Sevutia said the villagers were also working closely with health officials to ensure the sick were monitored.
According to the Health Ministry, 16 new cases were reported in the Nacula Medical Area in the village of Nacula.
This brings the total number of cases on the island to 113. All active cases remained at home.
Meanwhile, Naviti Island did not report any new cases in the past 24 hours.
Of the 179 cases on the island, 93 individuals have recovered, while 86 cases remain active and under surveillance by the health team.
There have been 50,685 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021.
Fiji has recorded a total of 50,755 cases since the first case was reported in March 2020, with 36,707 recoveries.
