A Fiji opposition MP has been bailed and ordered to deactivate her Facebook account.

Lynda Tabuya appeared in the Suva Magistrate's court yesterday, where she pleaded not guilty to one count of a malicious act.

The Sodelpa MP was charged in relation to a Facebook post police allege incited panic about Fiji's first Covid-19 case.

In the post, she urged people to stock up on items, and accused the government of criminal negligence in bringing the coronavirus to Fiji.

She will have to deactivate her Facebook account from the 3rd of April, ahead of her next court appearance on the 6th.
