The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission is adamant funding delays will not affect the finalising of the roll for next year's elections.

This is despite the commission having to extend the omissions and objections period for the provisional voters list because the Ministry of Finance did not release funds for the process on time.

The deadline for the public to register any issues they had with the names on the provisional list expired this week, but the chief electoral officer Mose Saitala said this had now been extended until the 29th November.

Mr Saitala said this would not affect the rest of the Biometric Voter Registration process.

Public hearings to go over discrepancies will still start as scheduled on the fourth of next month and close on the 23rd, he said.

A final voter list will be ready in time for the national and provincial elections early next year, he added.
