The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports the chief electoral officer, Mose Saitala, saying many people tried to register multiple times but his officers were entering only their last registration onto the final roll.

Mr Saitala told the national broadcaster his office was taking these attempts to defraud the system seriously and would be reporting all offenders to police.

He said their actions had shown that they have no respect for the laws of the country and should be detained.
