John Connor told the Fiji Times newspaper all of the country's costs are being covered by other nations through various climate funding initiatives.

Mr Connor said the costs of sending Fiji's formal delegation to COP23, including transport, accommodation and daily allowances were paid for through the UNFCCC Trust Fund which countries like Italy, Switzerland and the European Union contribute to.

He said the total cost of Fiji's presidency has yet to be calculated but estimates for getting its cultural contingent to participate in Bonn are around $US250 thousand.

Mr Connor said there were 70 members of the combined presidency, negotiations, climate action and logistics team that represented Fiji.
