The World Bank says it continues to work with Kiribati to upgrade its airports, following a controversial cancellation of flights from Fiji Airways.

Fiji's national carrier stopped flying to Bonriki Airport in Tarawa citing fire safety concerns, boundary fencing issues and problems with communication from airport staff.
Last weekend flights resumed when Fiji Airways was assured that the concerns were addressed.
However, the Kiribati Government says Fiji Airways could have done more, such as delivering essential spare parts that had been sitting on the tarmac in Nadi.
A spokesperson for the World Bank says contracts are in place for navigational aids and communications equipment, and installations commenced earlier this year.
They included a security fence around Bonriki Airport, and the World Bank says there are "marked improvements in the safety of operations".
Fiji Airways has been sought for comment but the CEO, Andre Viljoen, has not been available to make any comment.
