The Netherlands have beaten Papua New Guinea by five wickets in a rain-interrupted one day cricket match in Amsterdam.

After showers delayed the start of the match, the Barramundi's could only muster 122 for 9 from a reduced 24 overs, under the Duckworth-Lewis method, with Assad Vala top-scoring with 29 from 32 balls.

Charles Amini managed three wickets in as many overs for the visitors but it was too little too late as the Dutch cruised to their target with 35 balls to spare.

The two teams will face off again tomorrow night with the top two teams in the World Cricket League competition will advance to the World Cup qualifiers in 2018.
