Vanuatu full damage assessment expected mid week

1:50 pm on 13 April 2015

The Vanautu National Disaster Management Office says a full report on the damage caused by Cyclone Pam will be ready later this week.

NDMO Director Shadrack Welegtabit says reports from all damage assessment teams have come in over the weekend and the process of compiling them into a national report is underway.

"What we are seeing is some areas that need to be prioritised and we are thinking along the line of education, health and should be water. So depending on the assessment that was done in the field we are just waiting to see the recommendations from the reports that will be available later in the week."

Mr Welegtabit says the first round of emergency relief has been completed and plans for a second phase are underway with distribution expected to start later this week.
