Fiji hoteliers say tourism industry in Fiji not back to normal

11:12 am on 19 February 2007

The Fiji Hoteliers Association says the positive picture of the tourism industry returning to normal levels is not an accurate reflection of the situation on the ground.

The Association's President, Dixon Seeto, told the Fiji Village news site that reports the industry is back on track are not true.

Mr Seeto adds that comparing visitor arrivals for this year with those for the same period in 2006 also does not reflect the true situation.

The Interim Minister for Tourism, Bernadette Ganilau, said earlier that visitor arrivals had increased slightly compared to the same period last year.
