The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is up for a Grammy for Best Orchestral Performance for its recording of Symphony "Humen 1839" by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Zhou Long and Chen Yi. Chief Executive Chris Blake talks about the standard set by the other nominees this year who represent four of the top United States orchestras: the Boston, Pittsburg, Seattle and Oregan Symphony Orchestras. By the time Chris joins Upbeat at 1pm the winner should be known.

Anna Coddington like so many other vocalists is inspired by 60's icon Dusty Springfield. Anna along with Tami Neilson and Bella Kalolo will put their Aotearoa spin on one of the most unique voices in the history of pop music at the Auckland Arts Festival show Dust to Dusky which premieres next month.

Major Steven Small is director of bagpipe music for the British army. He's also a veteran of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo which returns to Wellington this week to perform as part of New Zealand Festival. Upbeat talks to Major Small about his own experience as a Piper both in the army and as a soloist of some renown.
