Sound Lounge for Friday 18 August 2017
This week: Jeroen Speak’s back in town! The NZ composer based in London is back for performances and a bit of Aotearoa TLC. Sound Lounge had lunch with him and he brought in his percussion concerto for a world premiere radio broadcast. Also: sax legend George Garzone, veteran of more than 20 recordings, a member of the Grammy-winning Joe Lovano Nonet and the teacher of the likes of Joshua Redman, begins a tour of the country: and a profile of Swedish composer Anders Hillborg, who has his Sirens performed next week at the Proms.

"Following their much-acclaimed surprise debut album VERMONT from 2014, Motor City Drum Ensemble’s Danilo Plessow and Innervisions' Marcus Worgull reunite for more synth daydreaming on the suitably titled “II”. The new outing continues where the first full-length left off, strolling further down the luminous and undulating path that the duo turned into, influenced in equal measures by kosmische, krautrock, minimal wave and synth soundtracks."
