Alison Isadora left NZ exactly 30 years ago for study in the Hague, and has been based in Amsterdam ever since. She is performed by many of the finest ensembles in Europe, including the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, and returns to the Lilburn House to take up the residency 2016-2017. Charlotte Wilson visits her for an introduction that ranges from her background, influences, her performing group SYNC and the tremendous variety of her recent live recordings, to her wall of inspirational women in the study of 22 Ascot St and her thoughts on being home.

Not surprisingly, the natural world is a never-ending source of fascination and inspiration for composers. From the Datura plant in southern China, to a rare bird in the wilds of Australia, to strange animals that exist only in the composer’s imagination, we’ll feature music inspired by the boundless creativity of nature.
