5:40 am on 31 July 2011

The Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips has married England rugby player Mike Tindall at a ceremony in Edinburgh.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were among those at the wedding in Canongate Kirk on the Royal Mile.

Hundreds of well-wishers lined the streets for the event.

The bride's dress, an ivory silk and satin gown, was designed by Stewart Parvin, one of the Queen's favourite couturiers. This was accompanied by a veil, tiara and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Catherine, and Prince Harry also attended the ceremony and reception at Holyroodhouse. Other guests included Prince Andrew and his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Zara, 30, will keep her maiden name. She is the daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband, Mark Phillips.

In 2006, she won an individual gold on her horse Toytown at the World Equestrian Games in Germany, helped Britain win a team silver and was voted BBC sports personality of the year.

Mr Tindall, from Otley in Yorkshire, plays for club side Gloucester and has been capped more than 60 times for his country.

Some of England's best-known rugby players were invited to the wedding. The best man was Iain Balshaw.

They were part of England's winning 2003 Rugby World Cup squad in Australia, where the couple were introduced by Zara's cousin Prince Harry.
