1:06 pm on 7 February 2011

Police across Europe are searching for twin girls who disappeared in Switzerland a week ago.

Alessia and Livia Schepp, aged six, are believed to have been taken by their Canadian father who recently separated from the girls' mother.

The body of Matteus Schepp was found under a train in southern Italy on Friday.

The twins were taken from their home in western Switzerland the previous Sunday.

Neighbours say the family is extremely worried.

The BBC reports police are checking farms and looking in wells in France, Italy and Switzerland.
