Miners may be out by Wednesday

Preparations to get 33 trapped Chilean miners to the surface this week are going well, say health officials.

The miners were trapped after a cave-in in August, and the first could be out by Wednesday, thanks to a narrow shaft that was drilled by the navy.

Health Minister Jaime Manalich says work to install metal casing in the shaft should be ready on Monday.

He says the miners are on a special diet to prepare them for the lift to the surface.

Negotiations are under way as to their order of rescue.
