Company denies report of coronavirus test after Auckland to Sydney cruise

Norwegian Cruise Line is denying reports a person on board one of its cruise ships is being tested for possible Covid-19 coronavirus, after it travelled from Auckland to Sydney.

The newspaper The Australian says the Norwegian Jewel is in lockdown while New South Wales Health tests a Singaporean passenger who fell ill with respiratory illness.

A spokesperson for the cruise line said the ship was disinfected after a few passengers experienced a stomach-related illness.

But they said no-one on board has any respiratory illness.

The ship is due to depart Sydney later today for a two week cruise around Australia and New Zealand.
