Badger cull begins

8:44 am on 28 August 2013

A cull of badgers aimed at combating tuberculosis in cattle has begun in southwest England. About 5000 badgers are to be shot.

The National Farmers Union says it will limit the spread of bovine TB. But opponents say the cull say it is inhumane.

This is the first badger cull in Britain in more than 20 years.
