The state funeral for the first Maori Governor General takes place in Auckland on Thursday.
Sir Paul Reeves died last Sunday. He was 78 and had cancer.
The service will be held at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell.
Meanwhile, there's no shortage of people who want to pay their tribute.
Maggie Bayfield was the QEII National Trust's chief executive when Sir Paul was its chair from 2000 to 2003.
She recalls he was a man of the people, and not power, who had the ability to make everyone feel comfortable and to get the best out of people.
