Breakers sell out Vector for NZ record crowd

6:43 pm on 27 January 2012

The New Zealand Breakers have pulled a local basketball record crowd of 7,979 for Friday night's sold-out game against Sydney at Auckland's Vector Arena.

It's the Breakers' fourth straight capacity crowd, the other three coming at their normal home court on the North Shore.

The Vector sellout also takes back the Australian league's season attendance record from the Kings.

Breakers defensive rock Dillon Boucher says it means a lot to the team but they're happy with the North Shore Events Centre.

However, if the crowds keep coming they'll have to consider a bigger venue longer-term.
