Steve Rapira finally set to make NRL debut for Warriors

2:48 pm on 1 June 2011

Off-season signing Steve Rapira will make his long-awaited National Rugby League debut for the Warriors on Saturday night, having been named on the interchange bench for the match against the Roosters in Sydney.

After making 26 appearances for North Queensland, the 22-year-old's Warriors debut has been delayed by a knee injury.

But while he finally comes into the side, he'll have to wait to achieve one of his goals of playing in the NRL alongside his older brother Sam, who's still missing from the side having dislocated his thumb while playing for the Kiwis against Australia earlier this month.

Another injury has forced a change on the bench, with utility Lance Hohaia out with a sternum complaint and replaced by Shaun Berrigan.

Returning in his starting role in the front row is Queensland State of Origin prop Jacob Lillyman, with Ben Matulino dropping to the reserves.

Lewis Brown joins captain Simon Mannering in the centres.

After winning their last five matches the Warriors are fifth on the points table.
