The former Australia opener David Boon will replace compatriot Alan Hurst on the International Cricket Council's panel of match referees.
Boon, currently Cricket Tasmania's General Manager and also a national selector, will relinquish both those posts before joining the panel.
50-year-old Boon played 107 test matches for Australia.
Hurst, who joined the panel in 2004, will retire after officiating in his 102nd one-day international between England and Sri Lanka in Manchester on July 9th.
