5:17 pm on 2 April 2011

Dave Currie's resigned from New Zealand Cricket after two years as Black Caps team manager to concentrate on his role as Olympic Chef de Mission.

The New Zealand Olympic Committee is putting more resource behind the London Games team and Currie's accepted the enhanced position more than a year out from the event.

Currie was to finish up with New Zealand Cricket at the start of 2012 but a mutual agreement was made for him to leave after the current World Cup. The final is tonight in Mumbai between co-hosts India and Sri Lanka.

London will be Currie's last Olympic Games as Chef de Mission, ending a decade in the role which began in 2002 at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
