The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that Ricky Ponting could be in the final week of his 9-year reign as Australian cricket captain, claiming he'll be under pressure at boardroom level to retain the job for next month's tour of Bangladesh.
The Herald quotes a senior Cricket Australia official as saying the board should at least discuss the matter of Ponting's leadersip, even if the national selectors name the Tasmanian as the tour captain.
Ponting has lurched from one controversy to another during the World Cup as he struggles with his own form and the team's performances.
