Dunedin, Invercargill and Nelson are set to host three of the five Rugby World Cup pool matches Christchurch has lost.
The International Rugby Board's announced this afternoon that Christchurch has lost its hosting rights for the tournament because of the damage AMI stadium and the city's infrastructure suffered in last month's earthquake.
Auckland's Eden Park will now host the two quarterfinal matches scheduled to be played in Christhchurch.
The chief executive of Rugby New Zealand 2011, Martin Sneddon, says he expects three of the five pool games to go to the other South Island host cities, Dunedin, Invercargill and Nelson while two will go to the North Island.
He says he's yet to discuss this with organisers in those regions but hopes to be able to confirm the reallocation in the next few days.
A decision on which North Island cities will host the remaining two pool games is yet to be made.
