Concern for South African spinner

6:37 am on 10 March 2011

The South African cricketers have suffered an injury scare with their in-form leg-spinner Imran Tahir fracturing his left thumb.

Tahir suffered the injury dismissing England's Jonathan Trott earlier this week.

X-rays have shown a small, undisplaced fracture in his left thumb, and they're waiting for a specialist's opinion from home regarding the seriousness of the injury.

Tahir is the tournament's second-highest wicket-taker with 11 victims in three matches.

After losing to England, South Africa's next game is against India on Saturday.
