Records continued to fall on day two of the International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, with field athletes securing seven of the eight world records set.

China dominated the 100 metre races, winning three out of four gold medals available.

It was a tough day for two New Zealanders Jess Hamill and Matthew Lack, but both were heartened by their performances looking towards the London Paralympics next year.

Both were the youngest in their respective fields.

Hamill was fifth in his T34 shot put event which produced two world records while Lack was eighth in one of the classiest fields of the day in the T54 800 metres.

Meanwhile world record holder Tim Prendergast struggled with a hamstring injury he suffered three weeks ago in finishing down the field in the men's T13 1500 metres final.
